Minister of Manpower Yassierli has confirmed that the 2026 Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) will be officially announced on November 21, 2025, in line with the existing schedule.
However, there is still no certainty regarding the amount of the wage increase, as the figure is currently being reviewed by the National Wage Council (Depenas), which involves the government, labor unions, and employers.
Yassierli emphasized that it is too early to reveal the percentage increase because the formula to be used—whether the existing one or a new version—is still under intensive discussion. Meanwhile, labor unions have proposed an increase of 8.5% to 10.5%, but the government has not committed to these figures yet, stating that it is still evaluating factors such as purchasing power, inflation, and balance for employers.
On the other hand, some parties have hinted at the possibility of a more moderate increase. For instance, there are reports that employers and the government are considering a 3% increase, which labor groups consider insufficient to match the rising cost of living.
As a result, the public is waiting for the final decision in November to find out how much the minimum wage will change across various provinces in 2026.
