The government announced that as of the January–September 2025 period, employment absorption in Indonesia has reached nearly 2 million people. This figure indicates a tangible effort to boost job creation within the first nine months of 2025.
The increase in employment absorption aligns with reported investment realization, where by September 2025, investments have generated approximately 1.95 million jobs from various projects. However, challenges remain in ensuring that the newly created jobs are high-quality formal positions capable of effectively accommodating new entrants to the workforce.
Although the employment absorption figure is relatively high, observers note that unemployment rates, the availability of formal job opportunities, and labor market transformation continue to be key areas of focus. Thus, while the data shows a positive trend, concrete measures are still needed to ensure that workforce growth is reflected in broader job stability and quality.
