Beyond the Resume: Opening Our New Jakarta Office with Conversations on Talent in 2026

On 10 February 2026, RecruitFirst Indonesia officially opened the doors to its new Jakarta office, together with HRnetRimbun and Octomate Indonesia – marking a shared milestone for HRnetGroup’s brands in Indonesia. The event, titled “Beyond the Resume,” brought together HR leaders, hiring managers, and business partners for a morning of practical insight-sharing and dialogue on the evolving realities of hiring in 2026.

The symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony formally marked the opening of the new office space, a step forward in strengthening our presence in Jakarta and deepening collaboration with clients. What followed was a series of focused discussions on how organisations can make sharper, more strategic hiring decisions in a shifting talent landscape.

The 5 Senses Hiring Checklist: A Sharper Way to Interview

The morning began with a mini masterclass led by Eka Putri and Noviana Indriati from RecruitFirst Indonesia, who introduced the audience to the 5 Senses Hiring Checklist – a practical framework designed to help hiring managers and HR professionals make more holistic hiring decisions.

Rather than focusing solely on credentials or rehearsed responses, the session explored how interviewers can sharpen their observation skills by paying closer attention to what they see, hear, sense, and experience during the early moments of interaction.

“The resume opens the door,” shared Eka. “But the real assessment begins in the conversation. The more intentional we are in observing patterns – not just answers – the more balanced our hiring decisions become.”

The framework emphasises slowing down before drawing conclusions, recognising behavioural consistency, and looking at signals collectively rather than in isolation.

As Novi added, “Hiring is rarely about one perfect answer. It’s about how someone thinks, responds, and adapts in real time. That’s where long-term potential becomes clearer.”

The discussion sparked thoughtful exchanges among HR practitioners in attendance, many reflecting on how interview practices must evolve alongside changing workforce expectations.

The New Talent Reality in 2026

The conversation then widened in scope with an insight-sharing session titled “The New Talent Reality in 2026,” led by Adeline Sim, Executive Director and Chief Corporate Officer of HRnetGroup, together with Rubby Lim, Business Leader of HRnetRimbun.

The session unpacked several structural shifts shaping today’s hiring landscape, from evolving candidate expectations to changes in organisational design.

“We are seeing a clear move towards leaner teams,” Adeline shared. “With organisations operating more efficiently, each individual is expected to contribute at a higher level. That is why digital fluency – particularly the ability to use AI tools effectively – is becoming increasingly critical. In leaner teams, productivity and adaptability are no longer optional skills; they are baseline expectations.”

The implication is clear: employers are not just hiring for competence, but for amplified impact.

Rubby highlighted another emerging challenge. “As the demand for talent who can create greater value continues to grow, it becomes more important for companies to move beyond candidates who are actively applying for jobs. We need to actively map the market, identify high-impact individuals, and engage them strategically. That’s where working closely with recruitment partners becomes essential.”

Together, the session underscored that hiring in 2026 requires both sharper evaluation frameworks and more proactive talent strategies.

Digital Enablement: Introducing Octomate

The morning also featured a live sharing by Zoey, Business Leader of Octomate Indonesia, who introduced Octomate, one of HRnetGroup’s digital workforce management tools.

Beyond a conceptual overview, Zoey conducted a live demonstration of several Octomate features, offering guests a practical look at how digital tools can streamline HR operations. The demo included:

  • Live attendance functionality, enabling talent to clock in virtually with real-time tracking
  • An instant claim feature enhanced with AI, designed to simplify and accelerate expense submissions
  • Instant pay capability, allowing talent to receive payments more quickly and seamlessly

As workforce expectations evolve, such tools support organisations in balancing operational efficiency with employee experience. In increasingly lean environments, technology becomes not just a support function, but a productivity multiplier.

A Morning of Insight and Connection

Beyond the formal sessions, guests participated in “The Art of Matcha” mini workshop – a hands-on experience that offered a moment of reflection amid strategic discussions. A 360-degree photobooth added a light and celebratory touch to the occasion, while the event concluded with lunch and networking, allowing conversations to continue organically.

The opening of the new Jakarta office represents more than an expansion of space. It signals continued investment in partnerships, advisory conversations, and the evolving future of recruitment in Indonesia.
